Where We Stand

We may never realize that our socioeconomic status determines how we view the world. The way we look at things stems from the world around us and the role we play. Why I say one may never realize it is because sometimes we tend to only see what we are surrounded by and never look outside the box. The things we may look at and think of as normal may not be considered normal to someone else somewhere else.

We realize that money makes the world go round but we may overlook to what extent that that is true. its funny that you can take 5 people or as many as you like and show them a criminal act in progress and there will be 5 separate descriptions of what was seen. A man that robs a store for a loaf of bread is still a thief but depending on where you stand you may be able to disregard the crime and focus on the underlining fact which is he is hungry.

It just amazes me that results of life is due to chance and opportunity, proper planning may not even help if you live in a place where the resources you need are just not supplied.Your socioeconomic status is the determinate factor on at what perceptions we make, What chances we have and how easily accessible basic resources are not available to everybody.

  1. I completely agree. Ones socioeconomic status can result in an individual becoming successful or unsuccessful in life . Socioeconomic status affects perspective, and to me perspective is everything.
